Fifty years ago, a precious little girl was welcomed to the world in Kingston, Jamaica. She was the baby sister to siblings Kingsley and Carolyn. After elementary school she attended St. Hugh's High School. That's where she began to forge great friendships -- many of whom makeup her close-knit "posse" today. She moved to Massachusetts to attend Clark University and later went on to study law at Howard University in Washington, DC. While Donnette honed her legal practice in the Washington, DC area, she dabbled in the arts - quilting, painting, designing and creating greeting cards, tie-dye. And along the way she amassed a phenomenal art collection from all her travels around the world. One of her proudest moments was designing and creating a 92" x 92" quilt for President Barack Obama's inauguration. Her quilt was featured along with other quilts from around the country at an exhibition during the inauguration festivities in Washington, DC. She's famous for her annual Kwanza Lime in December where her friends are showered with great food, offered stimulating conversation, and some of us try to see how much we know about the countries in Africa and the Caribbean -- all trying for the winning prize of a piece of artwork.
